Overseeing the music for film and tv is many things. It’s sometimes thrilling but hard work, and it can also be artistically rewarding. Bringing tracks from either major artists or new sensations to a production can only enhance the quality of an entertainment experience, and this is one of the many things that makes a great music supervisor.
Ron’s background combines all the creative and business aspects of the music industry. His professional credentials include Author, Artist Manager, Musician, Record Producer, Songwriter, and Synthesist.
Ron has appeared on or moderated several industry panels, including Film Music panels for The Toronto Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, and SOCAN. He has also been the subject of several articles in industry periodicals and has written and published a guide on licensing music in film and television which is geared towards the indie musician and/or label owner, and which he uses as the basis for a course he teaches at a local music industry school.
In addition to his work in Music Supervision, Ron remains an occasional songwriter who has written or co-written several TV Themes and additional songs. He also composed and performed the score for the feature film Twist. Additionally, a song he co-wrote for the film with the films director Jacob Tierney won a Genie Award for Best Song in 2005.
One of Ron's greatest achievements has been surrounding himself at Arpix with uber-talented Music Supervisors Chris Robinson and Andrea Higgins. Collectively, they are committed to bringing the best creative and business sense to a project; and all are approachable people who recognize the realities of art and commerce.
