HOW TO SUBMIT

IF YOU ARE A LABEL OR A MUSIC BROKER:

Send us a short email at studio@arpix.com. Please do not submit to any other email address within Arpix.

Please provide:
- link(s) to music and relevant contact information
- short description of the amount of music you control and the styles or artists you work with
- any other relevant information

IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST OR BAND:

Thanks for sharing your music with us!

All submissions must be tagged as described on this page. If you don’t do so, please appreciate that we will not be able to find your music in the future. This doesn’t help anyone – not you, not us, not the shows we work on. So thanks for taking the time to tag properly.

Also, be aware that we do not accept any songs that make use of 3rd-party samples.

Click on the link below to access our Soundcloud submissions page, then submit your tracks according to the instructions that follow.

Send me your track
Step 1: Upload. Upload your file.

Step 2: Genre. For the Genre field, choose one genre from this list. Soundcloud insists on a single genre choice. You may, however, use the tag field to indicate additional genres if you wish.

Step 3: Tags. For the Tags field, add tags for each of the next few items.

VOCALS: Choose Male, Female, Group, or Instrumental.

TEMPO: Choose Slow, Medium, or Fast.

GENRE: Add your genre selection as a tag. If you feel this genre doesn’t adequately describe your music, you may add up to two additional genres from the list as tags.

MOOD: Choose up to four keywords from this list to describe the general feeling of the song. Use only words on the list. For instance, if you want to say that a song is 'joyous' or 'cheerful,' just use 'happy'.

INSTRUMENTATION: Indicate any featured instruments or sound effects that appear on the track, aside from standard/expected instruments like guitar/bass/drums. Clarinet, violin, accordion, handclapping, human whistling, ukulele, scat singing, musical saw... these all count.

SOUNDSLIKE: If this song strongly reminds you of a famous artist, indicate that artist as a tag. 'Soundslike' may not be a great feature if you're pitching for radio play or a record contract, but in the world of licensing it can definitely be a great asset.

Here are examples of how you might tag a few famous songs, if you’d written them.

“Single Ladies”:
Genre: R&B
Tags: female, medium, r&b, dance, cute, breakup, happy, beyonce

Beethoven’s 5th Symphony:
Genre: Classical
Tags: instrumental, medium, classical, dark, heartfelt, beethoven

“Around the World” :
Genre: Electronic
Tags: male, medium, electronic, dance, vocoder, energetic, party, daft punk

Step 4: Description. For the Description field, enter the answers to the following questions.

MASTER: Who owns the Master rights to this recording? If you do not own 100% of the rights, list all other parties involved.

SYNC: Who owns the Synchronization rights to this song? If you do not own 100% of the rights, list all other parties involved.

LYRICS: Copy and paste the lyrics to your song (if it is not an instrumental piece).

CONTACT: An email address and/or phone number where you can be reached, so that your Soundcloud account will not be our only point of contact for you.

Step 5: The rest. Fill out the rest of the fields (song title, submission type, and your contact info).

Step 6. Submit!

WHAT NOT TO DO

ArtistSubmissions2009-300x225
In an effort to reduce the amount of physical CDs that we receive, due to storage limitations and environmental concerns, we are no longer accepting unsolicited submissions via snail mail.

Further, we are in the process of halting all submissions by CD regardless of their origin.

Also, regardless of origin, please do not send emails embedded with MP3’s without our permission.

Finally, if you do not control 100% of both Master and Publishing on a submission, you should include the information of all other parties who share copyright with you along with your submission. It should also go without saying that the use of 3rd party samples in music should be listed as well.

AFTER RECEIPT OF SUBMISSIONS

We hope you understand that it takes time to listen to the numerous submissions we receive. Rest assured that we try to listen to everything. Unfortunately, if we were to comment back to every person who sent music to us it would be impossible to do what we are really here to do, which is to try and fit appropriate music to the productions we are working on.

Therefore, we do not return calls to comment on music. If we have interest in an artist or a track, or if we wish to request further music from you, we will absolutely call you.

Not hearing from us is in no way an indication of how we feel about your music. It may well be that we simply do not have a current need for it. That can and does change with a moments notice, and it is at that time that we will reach out to you.

Again, we appreciate your interest, and we hope you understand all of the above.

Also, if you would like to learn more about the ins and outs of licensing, you may wish to know about this:

Thanks,

Ron Proulx and everyone @ Arpix Media
