Newsflash: I'm a Beatles Fan. Like fine wine it only gets better over time. Having said that, if there's an album that as a kid I just didn't get into as much as the others, then it would have to be Rubber Soul. And I think i finally know why; Ringo barely makes an appearance in the first half of the album. At least not in the Revolver super Ringo sense. There I was on the Venice Pier at 8AM listening to Rubber Soul, perhaps finally getting it after all these years and understanding that if there was a folk record in the collection then this was it. Ringo has a couple of super moments, like his fabulous fills in "Wait", proving once again that he's the unsung hero of their sound, but overall, this is not his album. That would come soon.
